1) How do I know if my credits
will transfer easily to a four-year institution?
The schools listed in the "Transfer Information" section
are those with which Northeast has official articulation agreements.
By clicking on the school of your choice, you will find a listing
of course equivalencies between Northeast and the transfer institution.
Please read any comments accompanying the course equivalency.
They will give you additional information about transferability.
2) What is "articulation"?
Articulation is a term used to describe courses that are accepted
by four-year institutions because the content is the same. Articulation
agreements are official contracts between institutions that outline
the transferability of courses.
3) What if I want to transfer to
a school not listed here?
Northeast Community College is accredited by the North Central Association
of Colleges and Schools so many of our courses will transfer to
institutions across the United States. Each individual institution
is responsible for determine whether or not they will accept transfer
credit from another institution.
If you plan to transfer to a school with whom we do
not have an official agreement, it is important to stay in contact
with that institution regarding your course schedule to ensure that
the courses you are taking are transferable. Someone in the Admissions,
Registrar's or Records Office will be able to provide guidance on
transfer issues. You may wish provide them a copy of the course
description and in some instances a course syllabus.
4) What can I do to make the transfer
process go smoothly?
Transfer from one institution to another can be an easy process.
With a little planning and awareness on your part, you can plan
a schedule of classes that will provide you with a smooth transition
to your next institution. It is important to consult your advisors
at both institutions and the Transfer Guides and Information page
on the web to make course-scheduling decisions that best meet your
needs.
5) Does Northeast guarantee that
my courses will transfer?
Northeast Community College offers a college-wide guarantee to assure
academic transfer students smooth transferal of credits to institutions
with whom Northeast has articulated agreements.
The transfer credit guarantee requires that the student
meet the articulated transfer agreement with participating colleges.
The student and their advisor must complete a transfer contract
each semester.
