| Nursing Applicants Generic Applicants
Northeast Community College has both a practical and associate
degree nursing program. In addition to regular admission
and application procedures, applicants for the nursing program
are considered for admission based on a selective admission
process. The selective admission process is as follows:
1. Complete the program application.
2. Provide high school transcripts if graduation is within
five years
3. Provide all college transcripts
4. Meet with a program faculty member for a program advisement
interview.
5. Complete the program admission test.
6. Obtain a 2.7 grade point average (GPA) in at least
three science courses.
7. Provide three letters of reference.
8. Complete the formal faculty interview process for admission
consideration, after receiving program admission test results.
9. The most qualified applicants are selected based on
admission test score, GPA requirements, letters of reference,
and formal interview process.
The basic nurse aide course must be successfully completed
by all applicants prior to starting the associate degree
nursing program (LPNs are exempt from this requirement).
LPN Applicants to Associate Degree Nursing Program
1. Provide evidence of a current Nebraska practical nursing
license.
2. Complete the program application.
3. Provide high school transcripts if graduation is within
five years
4. Provide all college transcripts
5. Meet with a program faculty member for a program advisement
interview.
6. Complete the program admission test.
7. Obtain a 2.7 grade point average (GPA) in at least
three science courses.
8. Provide three letters of reference.
9. Complete the formal faculty interview process for admission
consideration, after receiving program admission test results.
10. The most qualified applicants are selected based on
admission test score, GPA requirements, letters of reference,
and formal interview process.
Nursing Program Graduation Requirements
1. The student has completed all the requirements of Northeast
Community College and the practical or associate degree
nursing program with a minimum grade point average (GPA)
of at least 2.0 for all courses in the program of study.
2. The student is recommended for graduation by the faculty
upon completion of the program.
3. The student has all financial obligations to the college
paid and all library and college materials returned.
4. The student is eligible to take the NCLEX-PN or NCLEX-RN
exam upon satisfactorily completing these graduation requirements.
The practical and associate degree nursing program must
meet all the requirements of the Nebraska State Board of
Nursing. Graduates of this program must meet the eligibility
requirements for licensure set forth by the Nebraska State
