| Social Security Numbers
International students are eligible to apply
for a social security number while they are attending school
in the United States. Any international student who wishes
to work on campus or who will be participating in Curricular
Practical Training will need to have a social security number
in order to be paid.
After registering for courses at Northeast Community College,
international students can begin the process of applying
for a social security number. Students must:
1. Complete the Application for a Social Security Card (available
at the Social Security Office).
2. Receive a letter from the DSO/International Student Advisor
verifying enrollment.
3. Take the application, passport, I-94, visa, letter, and
I-20 to the Social Security Office in Norfolk at 208 N.
5th Street.
Please notify the Admissions Office when you receive your
social security number so that it can be changed in the
student information system.
