General Program Information

New Beginnings is designed to help women and men achieve a more fulfilling life through personal growth and economic independence.

New Beginnings offers a variety of support services to help single parents, single pregnant women and displaced homemakers achieve their training and career goals.

Participation in the program may include any of the following services:

INDIVIDUAL SUPPORT SERVICES

Includes counseling, advisement, advocacy and referral to other area agencies and services.

PEER SUPPORT GROUP
Offers weekly lunch meetings and provides an opportunity to meet and network with other New Beginnings participants.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Provides financial assistance and scholarships for tuition, textbooks, supplies, mileage and childcare expenses for those who qualify.

CAREER ASSESSMENT & EXPLORATION

  • Designed to meet the unique needs of single parents and displaced homemakers
  • Offers interest, ability, and values assessments
  • Provides career & job market information
  • Encourages nontraditional career exploration
  • Offered as classes or individual meetings

WORKSHOPS & SUPPORT GROUPS
Address topics such as time management, stress management, parenting, domestic violence, & grief and loss.

RESOURCE LIBRARY
Offers textbooks and resources on parenting, personal growth, careers, job seeking skills, domestic violence, sexual assault, stress management, etc.

NEWSLETTER
New Beginnings newsletter contains program information, scholarships, and reminders about upcoming events and activities.
