The minutes from last year’s business meeting were read and approved.
Treasurer Debi Martin handed out a copy of the treasurer’s report. The current balance of the checking account is $4,217.64. It was noted that the $250 to help send the president to the AMATYC conference was not needed. His trip was covered by his school.
It was decided that the 2010 conference will be at Northeast Community College in Norfolk on April, 9. It will be chaired by Northeast’s Math Department.
Dale Johanson reported that tax-exempt status was not achieved during the past year, but attempts were still being made to achieve tax-exempt status.
There was a motion to have the officers create proposals on what to do with NEBMATYC’s money to be presented at next year’s conference. Suggestions included grants, scholarships and lowering fees. The motion was seconded and approved.

There was a motion to pay up to $250 of the cost of the AMATYC conference for two state delegates, if the costs were not already covered by their schools. The motion was seconded and approved. Debi Martin and Frank Weidenfeller were nominated to be the two state delegates.
Dale Johanson suggested creating interest group links for the NEBMATYC website. Suggested topics included: developmental math, elementary, intermediate and college algebra, business math, statistics, applied/technical math, calculus & beyond, online learning and placement & assessment.
There was a motion to donate $50 to the hospitality room at the AMATYC conference. The motion was seconded and approved.
