Course Description:
An introductory course that covers the basics of HTML (Hypertext Markup Language), planning and creating Web pages, using text editors and HTML editors, selecting and adding images, choosing background colors, creating active internal and external links, adding lists and finally testing the pages created. Course Objectives: Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- Students will create a web page using word processing software and an HTML editor.

Students will link the page to different sites, incorporate graphics, use tables, make image maps, and be familiar with the basic tags used to make a web page.
- Students will understand how java applets and frames are used and what design elements are important when writing a web page.
- Students will also know how to upload a page to a server..
Content Information:
- In order to receive a passing grade for INFO 1710, students must complete sufficient work assigned by their instructors to earn a course grade of “C” or better.
- To ensure that this objective is met, a minimum grade of “C” in INFO 1710 is required to qualify for transfer.
- Upon successful completion of this course, students will have completed the following:
- complete an evaluation of websites
- take an online quiz
- download and write a website using an html editor
- upload a website to a server
- insert graphics, tables, fonts, backgrounds, lists, links into a website
- write code to set yp a framed website
- post information about scripts to a discussion board
- create a final project which is a website the student designs and constructs
Course Expectations: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Use a text editor to write html.
- Upload html and image files to a server .
- Link a website to internal and external sources .
- Demonstrate the ability to use code and design elements together to makes an aesthetically pleasing page.
- Demonstrate the ability to download images and scripts for webpage use.
- Utilize html editors effectively.
Student Requirements:
- Have a valid e-mail address
- E-mail the course instructor prior to the first day of class
- Have access to the Internet
- 16 hours a student is expected to work in the course
- Must obain required access codes, books, lab supplies, and supplemental maerials
- The student must have computer literacy skills to:
- Save and retrieve files to a location
- Download, save, and open files from a source
- Locate and submit files with an attachment
- Create, edit, save, and retrieve files from a location
- Participate in an online chat room environment
- Navigate the Internet to reach a web site or search the Internet
- Create, open, and read e-mails and attach files in an e-mail
- Students are strongly encouraged to take the online tutorial and/or non-credit online preparation course.
- Have adequate computer operating hardware
