Traffic and Parking Regulations
- Speed limit on campus is 15 mph, unless otherwise posted.
- Operating a vehicle on campus so as to endanger public safety may result in fines,
suspension of driving privileges on campus and/or legal prosecution according to
Nebraska statutes. Examples of such safety violations are speeding, racing and
irresponsible or negligent driving.
- Vehicles parked illegally may be ticketed, immobilized and/or towed away at the owner’s expense. Violations may also result in suspension of campus driving privileges.
- Fines/penalties or violations are as follows:
- Vehicles parked in handicap areas without a legal permit will result in the issuance of a ticket. The assessed fine will be $100 if paid within five school days; thereafter the fine is $200 per ticket.
- When a ticket has been issued for parking in non-parking areas, driveways, red/green curb areas, over the yellow line taking up two stalls, on the grass, or any other violation, the fine will be $5 if paid within five school days; thereafter the fine becomes $10.
- Persistent parking violations may result in a Rhino boot being installed and a $25 fine being assessed. The fine must be paid before the boot is removed.
- Unauthorized removal, attempting to remove, tampering with, or otherwise damaging a Rhino boot, or moving the vehicle with the Rhino boot attached, will result in an additional fine of $25 and the amount necessary to repair and/or replace a damaged Rhino boot, or missing or damaged padlocks.
- Parking citations are assessed against student vehicle owners, not the vehicle operator.
