Extracurricular Activities

There are activities for everyone for all ages and for all interests. Your input is important to us. The Student Activities Council (SAC) would like to hear from you. For more information on how to become a part of this important service to our Northeast student body, contact the Student Activities Office. You can just be a participant at the various activities or really get involved with hosting, planning, publicity, and more. The list below is just a few of the activities offered.

SAC Activities

  • Campus activities such as Karaoke, Xtreme bowling, swimming, dances, laugh olympics,BINGO, beach and tailgate parties, game and talent shows, and hypnotist and comedian entertainers are some of the events sponsored throughout the fall and spring semesters.

Concerts, Theatre and Writers

  • Northeast Community College purchases tickets for students to use to attend area events sponsored by the Norfolk Area Concert Series and the Norfolk Art Center. Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis and are available prior to each event at the Student Activities Office. Watch the What's Happening for details.
  • Students can also attend the Northeast Community College/Norfolk Community Theatre productions free of charge. Reservations must be made in advance through the box office.
  • The Northeast English Department brings nationally prominent writers to campus that visit classes and give public readings of their own work. All events are free to students.
  • The Northeast music concerts are free to everyone as are art shows where students, instructors and area artists display their work around campus.
  • The Northeast Community College athletic games are free to students as well. Come help us support our Hawks teams to victory. There are lots of cool events to participate in as well.
  • The Multicultural Initiatives Committee hosts several events for the student body throughout the year. Also videos and publications are available in the library for students interested in other cultures and lifestyles. You can also stop by the display case across from the game room on a regular basis to view the displays of art history and cultures sponsored by the multicultural initiatives committee.

Brown Bag Lunches

  • A Brown Bag Lunch group meets on a variety of topics each semester. The New Beginnings Program Director is host for the group.

Service Learning

  • Activities are designed to promote the learning of key concepts or skills taught in college courses or programs. It includes serving with an organization that works to meet the needs of the community.
