| Reporting a Crime
Emergencies
and/or criminal activity taking place on campus must be
reported immediately, via telephone or in person, to campus
security (841-5163) or the Vice President of Student Services'
office (844-7272). Immediate Norfolk emergency services
may be reached by dialing 911 or, if using a campus extension,
by dialing 9-911. If physical harm is a threat to an individual,
they should seek out the nearest College employee for assistance.
Designated College
personnel will respond immediately to reports of criminal
action or emergencies occurring on campus. Such reports
will be investigated and evaluated by the security officer
or lead administrator and appropriate action will be taken
to address the criminal activity. Follow-up activities strive
to identify and prosecute criminals, protect victims' rights,
recover stolen property, and encourage restitution, when
possible.
Immediate referral
of most criminal action will be directed to the appropriate
local, state, or federal law enforcement authorities. Any
crime, occurring off campus, involving Northeast students
should be reported directly to the law enforcement agency
having jurisdiction for that area.
