2006-2007 Women's Basketball Season Recap

The Northeast Community College women’s basketball program had won 12 straight Nebraska Conference Championships coming into the 2006-07 season, but like many things, good things come to an end.  The team was coming off an impressive 25-5 2005-06 campaign and the 2006-07 team would have to answer many questions.  Who was going to fill the void after losing so many good players?  Gone from that team were several high-profile players who transferred on to Division I and Division II universities.

The 2006-07 team did find some answers to their questions. A couple of experienced sophomores, Angela Long and Kelli Lollman, stepped up to provide good leadership that would help lead the team.  Fellow sophomores Jenny Schultz, Ashley Walters, and Angie Peters also provided a year’s worth of experience to assist them.

As a whole, the 2006-07 team never did match the performance of the previous year, but then again the bar had been set pretty high.  Twenty-win seasons had become commonplace within the Northeast Community College women’s basketball program.  Even though the 2006-07 team did not reach that mark, the team did finish with a 16-15 record.  Many programs would kill to have a winning record and this team kept a winning-record streak alive.  This winning record was the 13th consecutive winning season for the Northeast women’s basketball program.

Team statistical and percentage leaders were Amanda Davidson, 11 ppg;  Jennifer Heller, 5.3 rpg;  Angela Long, 5.1 apg and 3.3 spg;  Kelli Lollman, 83% free throws and 43% 3-point shooting.  Angela Long, Kelli Lollman, Amanda Davidson, and Cena Nasiloski were named to the Nebraska All-Conference Team.  Angela Long was also honored by being named to the All-Region Team.
